Malware is a serious threat to faculty, students, and staff. Preventative software is essential to protecting Windows and Mac OS PCs and laptops and Linux and Windows servers. The Office of the CIO acquired licenses for Sophos endpoints and servers. These licenses are distributed to departmental IT organizations where they are made available to end-users.
Information about Sophos licenses for departmental IT staff can be requested via the IT Help Portal. End users or system administrators looking to obtain Sophos licenses should contact their departmental IT organizations.
Two versions of Sophos are available for Windows server environments. Windows servers supporting file sharing (SMB) should request Sophos Advanced licenses as that product provides additional protections against ransomware.
End users experiencing virus-related activity can contact their departmental IT staff or may open a support case at ucsb.service-now.com/it under end-user services.
